Tokyo, Sushi, Pachinko and Soap Parlours
Tokyo. Fascinating and surreal. Reminds me a lot about sci-fi movies like Bladerunner. Been there early this year (which was kinda like their winter then) and it has left a deep impression on me ever since. Everything hi-tech and innovative can be found right here in this metropolis. As I interact with some other foreigners who have been here for ages, I learned that Tokyo is not really Japan; Tokyo is Tokyo. That is to say Tokyo seemed like a country, a city by itself. Its culture and social ethics does not reflect those of other cities in Japan – cities likeYokohama. More so I learned that some people living in Tokyo city has some sort of a distasteful perception for people living outside of Tokyo. Still I would love to stay in Tokyo for a while to experience more of what their culture and people can offer.
Anyhow during my short stay there, I managed to ‘bunk in’ with a friend I just got to know there. She’s a very attractive lady who owns a computing business. Her name is Chika. Unfortunately she has a boyfriend. Unfortunately her boyfriend seemed to care less about her. Most of the time she was just busy doing her work on the laptop in her room, and it seems like she just keeps at it for ages, without sleeping! Despite her working schedule and already frail frame and looks, she smokes a lot too. But she was very considerate during my time of stay knowing that I don’t smoke, she tried to inhibit the smoke in her room.
I’ve been trying to contact her since I arrived back home. Emails were no use even though they were sent straight to her mobile. I do have her address…and its somewhere. Well, here’s a map she got for me and she took the trouble to draw the lines which depicts the route from her home to the train station. If anyone can translate where that is, I would be awfully grateful.
