My fond memories on Sesame Street
For the past few weeks I have been working late into the wee hours of the morning. And for the past few days I was practically awake for more than 26 hours and then catching a 5-6 hours sleep. It was an insane period for me. But I’m glad that’s all over…for now…
Anyway I wasn’t so much of a morning person and having that chance of seeing the sun rise came as a consolation. I also had a chance to watch Sesame Street, the PBS children’s television program that has been running for God knows how many decades. I gotta tell ya, I grew up on Sesame Street. It was just so captivating and enjoyable. Well, although you already know that characters like Big Bird, Grover, Cookie Monster, etc hasn’t changed a single bit (but I do wonder how the voice still stays the same), I was surprised and delighted to see human characters I grew up with were still there. People like Maria. Well she’s the only human character I saw then. I remember there was this other black bald guy, this nice white guy that always talks to Big Bird and another Hispanic guy named Luis. I missed the cartoons like the numbered pinball that goes around all kind of obstacles and some really fancy retro animations and even that short PBS logo at the end. This whole program can be considered the best children’s program to ever been broadcast globally. Not Banana’s in PJs, not Barney, not anything else. Sesame Street just has so much appeal even for adults. Maybe it’s the innocence of it all, the way they encourage children to discover and teach new things like colors and numbers. I love it…
I’m just thinking if there’s a way I can get my hands on all the seasons of Sesame Street keep them till I have children and have them watch it. I'm just afraid they might for some reason just shutdown the whole scene. That would be tragic.
This site here pretty much summarized my fond memories on Sesame Street.
