Dreams are my Reality
I suppose most of us would have caught some famous or successful people give a talk about following your dreams, or dare to dream. They will always say: “don’t let anything stop you, just follow your dreams”. I mean, sure… of course it’s easy for you to say it coz you’re all successful now. I mean most of us in some point of our lives we have dreams, like to be a doctor, lawyer, stripper, etc. Whatever happened to the younger days dreams of being Peter Pan, or getting bitten by a radioactive spider, or stealing Ken from Barbie. Its like some point in your life you realise that all those dreams seemed to only exists as a figment of your imagination and that getting a respectable job is what will put food on the table, and gets you the girls too. No, not on the table…
So whats the deal with people telling you to follow your dreams and you don’t make it? I mean that’s the whole reality of life isn’t it? You follow your dreams it leads you nowhere you end up a bum, and you die a horrible death…yes...you'll die a virgin. What I would like to see are:
1) homeless old people telling us that following your dreams mean ending up sleeping on the streets and picking up scraps from the trash
2) mental patients teaching us how to follow our dreams
3) successful people telling us its never about dreams (coz they only exists in your sleep), its all about hard work.
I guess the crux of it is that yes, dreams does let you have a target or a goal in your life to motivate you on, but at the end of the day, it all about hands feet and brains. We can never live on dreams alone. You’ll die a horrible death…and you know what I mean.
